Staying Consistent and Effective in Our Mission to Abolish Abortion
Dear Abolitionists for Christ,
I wanted to share some reflections and updates after attending a lobbying seminar in October and doing some research into what it means to be a registered lobbyist in Connecticut. While lobbying plays a role in the political process, our ministry and calling as the Connecticut Foundation to Abolish Abortion is fundamentally different. Here’s why—and how we can continue to influence and remain consistent and effective in our mission.
Our Distinctive Calling
Our foundation is not about traditional lobbying or transactional politics. While lobbyists aim to influence legislation through negotiations and compromises, we are called to:
Proclaim God’s Truth: Our work is grounded in the biblical mandate to preach repentance and declare God’s justice.
Call for Accountability: We confront representatives with the moral weight of their decisions, urging them to submit to God’s law.
Reject Compromise: Unlike many lobbying efforts that settle for incremental progress, we demand the total and immediate abolition of abortion, as anything less dishonors God’s justice.
Why We Are Not Lobbyists
While we speak with representatives and engage in public discourse, our primary focus is spiritual and moral, not legislative or political in nature. We call for repentance, not negotiation. Our ministry is protected under the First Amendment as free speech and religious expression, which allows us to:
Preach inside and outside government buildings.
Advocate boldly for the preborn without the constraints or entanglements of being registered lobbyists.
How We Can Influence Effectively as an Abolitionist Foundation
To stay faithful to our mission and maximize our influence, here are key strategies we can embrace:
1. Preaching and Public Proclamation
Continue using our voices to preach inside and outside government buildings, calling leaders, staff, and citizens to repentance.
Tie all our messaging directly to Scripture, emphasizing the moral and spiritual consequences of abortion.
2. Direct Engagement with Representatives
Hold representatives accountable by addressing their personal responsibility before God.
Send open letters or statements reminding them of their duty to enact just laws.
3. Public Awareness and Education
Host forums, prayer vigils, or public events to educate and inspire people to join the call for abolition.
Use social media to share sermons, testimonies, and resources to amplify our message.
4. Equip Believers
Train Christians to articulate the biblical case for abolition and engage effectively in their communities.
Develop resources like pamphlets, videos, and guides to spread our uncompromising message.
5. Expose Incrementalism
Publicly address and challenge pro-life leaders and organizations that promote compromised solutions, calling them to align with God’s standard of justice.
6. Prayer and Intercession
Organize prayer events specifically focused on the repentance of legislators, the salvation of abortion providers, and the end of abortion.
7. Media and Public Witness
Issue press releases to local news outlets to amplify our message and frame abortion as a violation of God’s law.
Create compelling content that exposes the brutality of abortion while sharing the hope of the gospel.
8. Long-Term Vision
As hearts and minds are changed, advocate for immediate abolition bills that reflect God’s justice without compromise.
Raise up new leaders within the foundation to carry this mission forward.
Stay Faithful to the Call
As we continue to stand for the immediate and uncompromising abolition of abortion, let us remember that our greatest strength lies in our distinct calling to proclaim God’s truth boldly and consistently. By focusing on spiritual and moral transformation, we aim not just to influence laws, but to glorify God and transform hearts.
Thank you for your commitment to this critical mission. Let’s press forward together, faithfully proclaiming repentance and justice in Christ’s name.
In His Service,
Norman
