Who will be found for the children?
(Written By John Howard, February 2025)
In 1828, John Russwurm and Samuel Cornish, editors of Freedom’s Journal, asked where one might find those willing to oppose slavery—those “to bear the buffeting and scorn of an unfeeling world for the sake of injured humanity.”
Where indeed?
Yet…we already know where they ought to be found.
“You are the salt of the earth. But if the salt loses its saltiness, how can it be made salty again? It is no longer good for anything, except to be thrown out and trampled underfoot. You are the light of the world. A town built on a hill cannot be hidden. Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl. Instead, they put it on its stand, and it gives light to everyone in the house.”
—Matthew 5:13-15
Christians are the salt of the earth, who stand in the face of injustice, to endure the world's contempt for the sake of the helpless.
Do you not understand? We kill children in this country.
The unborn will never write an editorial pleading for where their rescuers might be found. They have no voice, no means to cry out for justice. They are utterly destitute, often aborted by those whom God Himself blessed with their formation in the womb.
And yet, their deaths are met with radio silence from the Church. Across the airwaves, static fills the void of persecution where a voice of hope should be.
For the slaves, only a few were found. One named William Lloyd Garrison, who wrote:
“I have a need to be all on fire, for I have mountains of ice about me to melt.”
Where is the salt of the earth?
Who will be found for the children?
Will it be you?
